How To Be Seen During Quarantine

I received an email this week.

It started – “The times we currently find ourselves in are filled with possibilities - potentiality for new ways of both being and doing.”

It went on to say: “Let us support one another in embracing technology in new and creative ways…”

I have connected to people in new and fun ways this week then ever before.

People are showing up and being seen in new ways.

Restaurants are offering free delivery. With a cocktail!

Supermarkets are closing early to clean and restock. Then opening for seniors only to shop before the masses arrive.

Technology is allowing people to work from home. And children to learn from home.

It's a testament to the resiliency of people.

What happens when this resiliency fades...

Vibrant Living Tip

Stress lowers our immune system.

What can keep our stress high? Watching the news. Social media. Stop watching things that keep you in a state of stress. That doesn’t mean you are ignorant of what is going on.

How do we have a circumstance without the circumstance having us?

When you notice that something is causing undue stress or fear, try these things.

  1. Breathe. Breathe in through your nose for a count of 4. Hold it for 4. Breathe out through you mouth, like blowing into a straw, for a count of 6. Hold it for 4. Do this 3 times. Or more, if you need to. You will feel the difference.
  2. Gratitude. Write down at least 10 things you are grateful for. Actually write it. Writing creates a different connection in the brain. And feel the gratitude as you write.
  3. Find a way to support someone else. It could be help with grocery shopping. My daughter is doing that for me today. A phone call to say hi. Connecting virtually. FaceTime. FaceBook video chat or voice calling.

When you find fear or stress rising up, notice it and practice one of the above ways to de-stress. And wash your hands.
