Are You Open to Being Creative?

I received an email from Marie Forleo saying these 3 words saved her sanity. She was navigating her grandmother’s health challenges and living arrangements from a different state. She went on to say: “There’s not a day that goes by that the figureoutable philosophy doesn’t somehow help me find hope, clarity, and strength.”

The phrase I use to accomplish something similar is “The impossible just takes longer.”

I can remember starting a new job. My boss was talking about some possible improvements to an application. At one point she adds – except it can’t be done.

Wait. What? Who said it can’t be done? Jonathan (the guy before me.)

My response – I can do that.

Over the next few months, she approached me with other improvements along with “Jonathan said it can’t be done.” I did them all!

Then one day she walks in and says: “I was just about to say Jonathan said it can’t be done. I’m not going to say that anymore.”

Some improvements she wanted took longer. Took a lot of figuring out. I did it, though.

Not to belittle Jonathan. He was very good. He just gave up too soon.

Reminding myself that the impossible just takes longer is how I stay tapped into my creative side. I let me imagination take over. I have fun trying all the possibilities that come to me.

The truth is, there is an answer to every question and a solution for every problem. If we stay open to it.

I invite you to use Marie’s phrase or my phrase. Or better yet, create one of your own. It will be easier to remember words that make sense to you.

When something creates stress or seems impossible use whatever phrase you like to see it differently. Stay with it. Be creative. Do the impossible!
